9 Aprilie 2009 — Troica Preşedinţiei Uniunii Europene, aflându-se într-o şedinţă la Sarajevo, au reiterat mesajele precedentelor declaraţii ale Cehiei, deţinătoare a Preşedinţiei UE, privind situaţia din Moldova, remise la 7 şi 8 aprilie. Uniunea Europeană este pregătită să continue colaborarea cu Republica Moldova în conformitate cu valorile şi standardele europene şi îşi exprimă angajamentul de a consolida mai departe relaţiile dintre UE şi Moldova. În acest context, rolul Reprezentantului Special al Uniunii Europene în Moldova este crucial. Pentru UE este esenţial de a avea relaţii bune cu vecinii săi. Înţelegând complexitatea relaţiilor dintre România şi Republica Moldova, facem apel la Guvernul Republicii Moldova să restabilească relaţiile normale cu România.
